Wistron, a major contract manufacturer for NVIDIA systems, will produce the advanced compute modules at the core of data center deployments worldwide, addressing what has become one of the semiconductor industry's most acute supply bottlenecks.
The timing reflects genuine operational urgency. Current waiting lists for GB300 systems stretch six to twelve months, with enterprise customers paying substantial premiums for accelerated delivery. Sourcing exclusively from overseas fabs creates 16-20 week lead times from order to delivery when accounting for logistics and testing cycles. Domestic production compresses this to 8-10 weeks, materially advantaging U.S.-based customers and reducing geopolitical risk exposure—a concern amplified by export controls on advanced chips. For organizations operating large-scale AI infrastructure, the cost difference between delayed deployment and on-time delivery can exceed millions in unrealized model training and inference revenue, making supply reliability a competitive necessity rather than convenience.
